Spring

In Spring the energy is rising, we connect with the element of Wood and our sense of vision.

Our spring practice is all about detoxification, flexibility and gentle warrior flows! Move forward in your yoga practice and find greater focus and balance as you plan for the year ahead. The spring focus is on dynamic change and growth and the key organs are the Liver and Gallbladder. I will help you to becoming aware of misdirected energy, giving you the tools to push through obstacles and accomplish goals through focus, clear vision and purpose. You will be shown exercises used for centuries to open up the meridians and stimulate energy points to support the Liver and Gallbladder.

 

Spring meditation and mindfulness focuses on the breath, mindful movement and the senses.

How do we stay rooted in the moment whilst plan ahead in a way that helps us to realise our goals and dreams?

Early Summer

In Early Summer the energy is expanding, we are working with the element of Fire and the sense of touch.

Experience a little dose of power yoga during Early Summer which is suitable for beginners too!  I will be guiding you through a slightly higher energy of Yang Yoga - which will leave you feeling energised and strong. Early summer is a time to challenge ourselves a little in yoga while, whilst maintaining calm and joy without burn out. Like the mythical Phoenix the summer energy can also allow us to cleanse and then recreate ourselves out of the ashes.

The physical focus will also be on strengthening the circulatory system and supporting the heart and small intestine which aids the adequate absorption of nutrients. Our practice will help to balance emotional expression and encourage self awareness.

We will also be working on strengthening the fascia or fabric of the body, which is vital for it not only regulates your internal body temperature but keeps your organs in place so they can function properly and allow vital communication between every cell in the body.

 

Early Summer meditation and mindfulness focuses on the heart, exploring how we feel about ourselves, others and our life situation. We learn to be more aware and conscious about our thoughts and feelings and the impact they have on your body and your life. When we approach each situation with compassion and kindness it can change our lives!

Late Summer

In Late Summer the energy is consolidating, we are working with the element of Earth and our sense of taste.

Our late Summer practice will focus on strengthening our core - find greater balance in our lives and help you to get back in touch with you!

This time of year is about being grounded, centred, confident and strong. The physical focus will also be on strengthening the digestive, lymph and immune systems. Improving muscle tone, strengthening lower limbs and mid-back. You will be shown exercises used for centuries to open up the meridians and stimulate energy points to support and balance these systems and areas. These affect us physically, energetically, emotionally and mentally.

 

In Late Summer meditation and mindfulness will be looking at the power of thought/mind and how this influences our energy levels. With deeper focus on staying grounded and centred in life even when we are challenged.

Autumn

During Autumn the energy is turning inwards, we work with the element of Metal and our sense of smell.

 

Autumn values include clarity, endurance, discipline and structure in our practice and in our daily lives. Having a positive approach while fostering the ability to keep what will benefit us and let go of what is toxic or what we no longer need or value.

Our Autumn practice is about learning to let go of stress and improve lung function through Pranayama (breath work) whilst also learning to align movement with the breath. We explore Vinyansa yoga (yoga flow with breath) Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling.

Other physical foci will be on improving lung function and oxygen up take, examining respiration on all levels while also strengthen the organs of elimination (large intestine).

You will be shown exercises used for centuries to open up the meridians and stimulate energy points to support and balance these organs. These affect us physically, energetically, emotionally and mentally.

 

Autumn Seasonal meditation and mindfulness - explore the subtle yet powerful tool of the breath to help as an anchor for an over active mind and bring us more deeply into the present moment. I will be offering tools to help you take mindfulness into your everyday activities, so you remain centered and calm even when challenged by heavy a work load or potentially stressful situations.

Winter

Winter

Our Winter practice explores Yin Yoga flows just for you in the colder months. A soft, gentle style of yoga to guide you through the winter months and deepen your practice.

 

The winter energy has hidden power and the depth is profound, determined, adventurous and direct yet restful, reflective and relaxed when the situation allows.

The physical focus will be on the health and strength of the back and the entire skeletal system. Learn how to support the function of the kidneys and bladder while targeting the vital balance between enhancing flexibility and building strength.

Central to all exercise and healing systems are the two opposing yet complementary forces working together to create balance. Energy is constantly changing, moving and transforming, and understanding the ebb and flow of these natural forces is the key to balance and harmony. Learn how to balance the sympathetic (fight and flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) systems vita to living in this highly charged world.

 

Winter Mindfulness is all about exploring our relationship with stillness. Learning to except and embrace periods of stillness within our daily lives is a powerful tool at this time of year. We only need to look at what is happening in nature and apply this energy to ourselves. Stillness is only to be found in the present moment - the magical place where the healing happens!
